Method and Technique
“Diversity is the key to my work; I specialize and work mainly in oils on canvas. My ideas are mostly philosophical – using symbols [which in turn create metaphors] to convey the beauty of Creation. Normally a series of paintings are done conveying an idea e.g. was fascinated after reading an article on the metamorphosis of a butterfly. A particular species has only 14 days to display its beauty. I calculated that if we add all those very special and magic moments of one's life, they might add up to fourteen days. Several works evolved around this concept. I also use collage techniques in some paintings – painting on paper laid down on canvas.”
“My main interest now lies in creating abstract paintings – metaphysical – of the “Big Bang Theory” trying to make the invisible of creation 'visible'. I use an actual leather whip to get 'energetic lines' to convey the enormous energy that creates stars, black holes etc. This method I also apply to my figurative studies.”
“I am also fond of laying different colours, superimposed; creating optical colours you cannot mix on the palette. I have a limited output – five paintings per month and seldom work on a scale smaller than a square metre.
Lately I add collage elements in my work and have developed a new technique in pastel and mixed media work.”
